the-bombadils-new-shoes-cover-smallOn January 15, 2017, Mike and Mary-Jo Hennessy are sponsoring a house concert featuring The Bombadils, a talented musical group from Toronto. This band visited Sunnyhill last year and everyone who attended loved them!

Canadian maritimer Luke Fraser and prairie-girl Sarah Frank share a love of folk songs and fiddle tunes. Drawing from the Canadian, American, and Celtic traditions, the two pour the spirit of story-telling and kitchen parties into their own writing. Luke brings guitar, mandolin, and home-grown east coast vocals in harmony with Sarah’s singing, lyrical fiddle playing, and claw-hammer banjo. Luke and Sarah will be joined by a guest cellist to round out the bottom.

Because Sunnyhill is under construction, the concert will be held in the party room at Cochran Hall Condos (500 Alden Rd, Pittsburgh, 15216). Doors open at 6:30 p.m., concert at 7 p.m.

The concert is a FUN-raiser, not a fundraiser, so feel free to BYOB and snacks. There is a $15 donation (adults) and a $10 donation (non-adults) that goes to the band to cover their costs as is typical at house concerts. If you’ve never been to a house concert before, this is a wonderful way to experience music, and these guys are truly world-class musicians that you won’t want to miss.

Seating is limited. To reserve a spot you must contact Mike Hennessy (michael@mjhennessy.com). You cannot make a reservation through Facebook or the website.

See y’all there!
