Sundays at Sunnyhill
Rev. Jay Abernathy leading a Sunday Service
Our Sunday services are the focal point of our spiritual community. We gather in the Sunnyhill main room for inspiration, learning, friendship, and to share our individual joys and concerns.
Each service is unique. There are a wide variety of presentation styles and presenters. We offer a mix of minister-led services, presentations by Sunnyhill members, guest musicians, all-choir services, ministers from other churches, or invited guest speakers. To really get a feel for Sunnyhill, come several times.
Sunday, April 29, 9:00 and 11:30 am
A Free Religion for a Free People
Led by Rev. Jay Abernathy
Before we depart for the summer, let's remember that it's an election year. I know, it seems the media have completely forgotten the point, and our politicians are hardly campaigning at all, but still, there are a few words to be said.
Sunday, May 6, 9:00 and 11:30 am
Coming of Age Sunday
Led by Rev. Jay Abernathy with Cheryl Kelley, DRE, and the COA Class
This will be our Coming of Age Sunday, with the youth, DRE, and minister cooperating in creating the service. The COA class will present their statements - a visible sign of their growing maturity. Homily by Rev. Jay Abernathy is entitled "Teaching Freedom."
Sunday, May 13, 9:00 and 11:30 am
Lessons My Mom Taught Me
Led by Rev. Jay Abernathy
We will celebrate Mothers Day with our annual Flower Communion. Please bring a flower to the service to share, taking home a different flower. My mother's influences are the beginning point for my service.
Sunday, May 20, 9:00 and 11:30 am
Life Is Like a Nut
Led by Rev. Jay Abernathy
This is our last Sunday of two services. My love of nuts (and not just the congregational variety) inspired this service.
