The UUCSH Board of Trustees for 2007-2008
Jay Pullen - President
Raised Southern Baptist, Jay has been a UU since 1999 and a member of Sunnyhill since 2002.
In Jay's words, "The diversity of the members' spiritual paths, the open dialogue,
and the strength of the RE program are what attracted me to Sunnyhill. The combined
emphasis on personal spiritual discovery and putting ones faith into action by
serving others is why I make Sunnyhill my home."
Louise Machinist - Vice-President
Since joining in 1982, Sunnyhill has been Louise's home away from home.
She served 2 prior terms as a Board Member, and 1 term as President at a time of transition.
"During this transformational time, our community will continue to grow deeper and stronger.", Louise says.
"As V.P, I draw on my training as a clinical psychologist, and my long-range view of Sunnyhill’s evolution.
My vision: celebrate the uniqueness and complexity of this self-reliant community:
think for ourselves; honestly say what needs to be said; be who we really are.
And enjoy making music together."
Sibyl McNulty - Secretary
Sibyl McNulty has been a member of Sunnyhill for about 12 years,
and before that found Unitarian Universalism in the East suburbs of Pittsburgh.
She is past Vice President and President of the East Suburban UU Church, past Vice President and President of the Board of Trustees
of the Ohio Meadville District of the UUA and has served on the
OMD Summer Institute Planning Committee. At Sunnyhill, she teaches RE,
is a member of the Green Sanctuary Committee, and chaperones at
Youth Conferences when invited. She is married to Paul and has three
wonderful adult UU children and two UU grandchildren.
Charlie Cook - Treasurer
Amy Kent - Member-at-Large
Even though Amy was raised in a different religion, she feels as though she is a lifelong UU.
Amy and her husband Bruce joined Sunnyhill in January of 1999 and immediately began
teaching RE classes even before their daughter Bridget was born. Amy has co-chaired many
service auctions, has been a co-chair of the Pancake Breakfast and is a willing participant
in just about any Sunnyhill event. Amy has served on the board in the past and was the church
Administrator from 2003-2005. In Amy's words, "whatever I give to Sunnyhill, I get back tenfold in spiritual nourishment."
BK Kosmach - Member-at-Large
BK first started coming to Sunnyhill in 2000, participating in Interweave, Spiritways, and Sunnyhill's many fundraisers.
She chose to become a member in 2006. In BK's words, "I felt a strong desire to give back
to the community that has accepted me so warmly." Since then, BK has served on the
Talk About Space Committee, was a volunteer co-chair of 2006 Harvest & Holiday Boutique,
and has been a canvasser. BK brings to the board a willingness to learn,
an open mind, strong organizational skills, and a great sense of humor.
Bob Trivus - Member-at-Large
Bob has been involved with Sunnyhill since 1989. After attending only two services,
he was invited to join the Sunnyhill Sunday Service Committee, where for the past
5 years he has served as chair or co-chair.
Bob is a psychiatrist in private practice and holds an academic position in the
School of Medicine at the University of Pittsburgh. In the past Bob has been the
CEO of a major Pittsburgh Institution, responsible for a 42 million dollar budget
and 1850 employees. Bob lives in Mt Lebanon with his wife Heather.
George Yeckel - Member-at-Large
Since joining Sunnyhill in 2001, George has participated in a number of leadership
roles, including co-leader of Interweave, Board secretary and chair of the Membership
committee. He has also been involved in the Welcoming Congregation process and
represented Sunnyhill at the National Interweave convention. As George puts it,
"I profoundly believe in our UU Principles and hope to use them on the board of
trustees as a guide for helping the healing process we must all experience if
Sunnyhill is to prosper."
Lee Young - Member-at-Large
Lee Young first came to Sunnyhill in 2002, and has been a member
since 2004. Her son Stuart, currently in 7th grade, participates
in the 9 a.m. session of RE. Lee teaches one, and sometimes two,
terms of RE each year, and otherwise tries to help out with other
miscellaneous church work. Lee and Stuart hold the current and
possibly all-time record for distance lived from the church: they
live in Waynesburg, in Greene County. Lee is the County Extension
Director and horticulture agent for Penn State Cooperative Extension
in Washington County.
